Copypastas, for those unfamiliar, are messages forwarded from person to person. Scary email chains are a good example of a copypasta. They were common in the early days of the internet, when they were often accompanied by frightening images. One of the most popular of the 2000s was Samara's chain, first published in 2007 on Orkut.

Below is a reproduction of it:
----------------
"Hi, my name is Samara, I'm 14 years old (I would be if I were alive). I died at 13 in Cascavel city. I was riding my bike when I couldn't avoid a barbed wire fence. The worst part was that the owner of the lot didn't want to help me; he laughed at me. After agonizing for two hours tangled in the wire, I passed away. Through this message, I ask that you allow me to rest in peace. Send this to 20 communities, and my soul will be saved by you and the other 20 who receive it. If you don't forward this message, I'll visit you tonight so you can see that wire up close.
On July 15th, Mariana decided to laugh at this message, and one night later she disappeared without a trace. The same happened to Karen on October 18th. Please don't break this chain. Unless you want to feel my presence."

Obviously, this "legend" isn't entirely true. However, it serves as a reflection of a simpler time, when people were wary of this kind of message. A time when the internet was more mysterious...
