In 2008, the anime Naruto was at its peak in Brazil, when it aired on SBT. It was a real craze, largely thanks to its broadcast on free-to-air television. However, there had already been a year-long hiatus, given that the show aired daily. This hiatus would only be interrupted with the premiere of the third season in March 2009.

What no one expected was that a supposedly new episode would air on the channel randomly, on some lost day in 2008. But this would be no ordinary episode; it looked more like a poorly edited version of scenes that hadn't yet aired. At first, it seemed like the SBT tape had some kind of problem. The opening aired with a few glitches, but nothing really disruptive.

The episode begins with the Third Hokage fighting Orochimaru in the Konoha Invasion Arc. Everything was in Japanese, and no subtitles to boot. It looked like someone had hacked into the network's programming and uploaded an episode straight from the internet. Finally, after the Third Hogake died and fell to the ground, the sound became unexpectedly louder. The screen cut to black, and stayed that way for a few seconds.

Suddenly, Itachi's eye appeared on the screen. He opened it, and it was blood red. I heard the Uchiha's voice saying "Mangekyo Sharingan!" or something like that. And with that, the night turned orange, and the clouds began to move quickly. It seemed like everything was under some kind of negative filter.

The scene shifted to a location I couldn't identify; it seemed like a view of some houses in the Hidden Leaf Village. Hiruzen was staring at the horizon, looking serious and worried, perhaps even depressed. The entire scene was reddish, matching his Hogake attire. This lighting disturbed me somehow; it seemed more frightening than the standard color scheme. Perhaps it was due to the poor quality of the tape, but either way, it disturbed me. And to make this bloody atmosphere worse, the scene never really played out. There were long seconds of practically nothing.

Flashbacks played on the screen, as if the Hokage were remembering something. I could see the massacre of the Uchiha Village, but not exactly as I remembered it. There was no typical anime soundtrack, and instead, reversed audio played. The flashback ended with Itachi walking menacingly toward the screen.

After another long wait with the Hokage staring seriously at the landscape, Itachi unexpectedly appeared behind him. The scene quickly cut to a black background. At this point, this entire episode felt more like a dream than reality. The way events unfolded, almost randomly, gave the entire situation a dreamlike atmosphere.

Several Sharingan eyes appeared against the black background, spinning endlessly. The scene cut to an orange sky with several clouds passing quickly. And as if that weren't uncomfortable enough, the blackened image of the Third Hokage appeared, staring straight ahead, almost facing the fourth wall, but with his head slightly lowered. His image was so dark that it almost looked like a silhouette. His gaze was barely visible, and he conveyed a depressed air.

A deep male voice could be heard, saying incomprehensible things. I believe they were in Japanese. After a few more interruptions, the image disappeared again. This time, the episode had been interrupted. The return of Bom Dia e Cia could be seen, with Yudi and Priscila acting normally, as if nothing had happened. After the broadcast froze once more, I turned off the television.

Oddly, I never saw any mention of this again. No acquaintance, internet user, or anyone else could recall what I reported, as if it had never actually happened.

Well, almost no one. While searching forums from the time, I found someone who confirmed my story, even claiming to know the meaning of the episode's final lines. According to him, it was a voice similar to Itachi's original voice, saying the following: "You are not dead; you will live forever in my nightmares. You were called the god of shinobi, now I will be your god for eternity."
