The Xbox 360 may seem like a modern console, but it's almost 20 years since its release. To celebrate, why not reminisce about the old days of this console?

The console was released in 2005, the first of the seventh generation. In its early years, it suffered from production shortages, which, combined with the fact that many units suffered from the "three red lights" issue, delayed its boom somewhat. Its first version featured silver accents and lacked HDMI. Therefore, AV cables were used, indicating a certain shift toward 480p and 720p. In the early years, console games were designed with CRT TVs in mind, which were still dominant.

It's worth remembering that this generation, especially its early days, had many performance issues, causing the consoles to suffer from extremely low FPS and a resolution below the level at which games were produced (although the 360 still performed better than the PS3). In this sense, the graphics seemed to be merely an improved version of the previous generation.

We should also remember the classic menu, which looked a bit like the aesthetics of Windows XP.

In 2008, the menu was updated to something closer to Aero Frutiger, an aesthetic that is present in Windows Vista, for example.

On the other hand, this console marked the beginning of several trends that changed the course of video games, largely through its more improved online gameplay and the franchises that emerged in this era and continue to this day.

*What ended it?

In 2010, the Xbox 360 gained worldwide popularity after the Wii lost steam in sales. By this time, the console was closer to what we know today, with high-performance 1080p games, graphics similar to those of the eighth generation, the popularity of DLC, a focus on LED TVs, the popularity of digital copies, etc.

In 2011, the menu design (unfortunately) was updated to something more minimalist.
